About Rapid Access Counselling….

WHAT ARE RAPID ACCESS COUNSELLING CLINICS?

  • RAC Counselling is a free, immediate, accessible form of brief counselling. The services are provided by qualified counsellors. We also help people to connect to the community and health services they  need.

WHO CAN ACCESS CLINICS?

  • Counselling Clinics are open to anyone who is in need of mental health support. Clients may be children, youth, adults, couples or families. Rapid Access Counselling Clinics are not appropriate for those experiencing acute mental health crisis or who are at immediate risk. Those individuals should proceed to their nearest Emergency Department.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

  • When you arrive at a Rapid Access Clinic location, you’ll be asked to fill out a brief information form. It will provide you with information about the program, confidentiality, and your rights and responsibilities as a client.  It will ask you for your name and address, as well as some other demographic information. It will also ask you two important questions – What is the most important issue you would like help with today? And what would you like to take away from your session? These questions will help guide your counsellor to ensure an effective session.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

CAN I ACCESS RAPID ACCESS COUNSELLING INSTEAD OF REGULAR COUNSELLING?

  • Rapid Access Counselling Clinics are not meant as a replacement for an ongoing therapeutic relationship. It is intended to be a single session model of therapy – though you may always return to a Rapid Access Counselling Clinic more than once. Those clients who may benefit from ongoing counselling can receive a referral for ongoing services from their counsellor.
